BRASILIA, THE CAPITAL OF A CONTINENT COUNTRY
Brazil is the fourth largest country in the world. Brasilia, a city with a Soviet look, has been its capital since 1960, the year of its creation. It was built to move the capital away from the Brazilian coast.
THE TREASURE OF MODERN ARCHITECTURE
It took less than four years to build. The city is organized around two perpendicular axes, at the intersection of which is the central station and the bus terminal. The judicial, legislative and executive powers are gathered around a square.
The famous architect Oscar Niemeyer designed the main buildings: the futuristic cathedral, the National Congress, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Supreme Court and the presidential palace. Brasilia was listed as World Heritage of Humanity in 1987 by UNESCO. The city seen from above, looks like an airplane.
